What do you want? Monopoly? Have the choice between Samsung, Huawei or devices that all use Qualcomm?
I don't! Monopoly lead to higher price !
About support there are custom roms for some devices : many soc are involved...mt6735, mt6752, mt6753, mt6737, mt6750, Helio X20...

Well I have installed custom roms on all my phones post two years period of purchase which i cannot do on mediatek so I would never go for mediatek personally even if they produce the worlds fastest processor.

Ask you if they can abuse of dominance on Apple which have money and an army or lawers, aren't they able to abuse other?
Ask you why Intel, NVIDIA, Texas instruments, st-microelectrics, broadcom stop making soc for smartphones?
Ask why Qualcomm makes 600% benefits on standards essential patents that impact devices that use other soc and only 12% benefits on soc.
Ask you why Qualcomm accepts to loose jugements and pay each year between 774 to950 millions dollars...maybe because they win far far more money with this kind of behavior
My opinion is that Qualcomm poisonned the market and force oem to use their soc even when it's garbage like 810, 808, 615 or 410...preasure point could be standard essentiel patents?
For exemple the first serie or 4 cores Cortex A53. 410 was a pure crap : A53 underperforms by 15% (at the same frequency), mt6732 was far far far far better...how many devices with mt6732 were released un Europe and USA? How many with s410?
Same with octocores s615 and mt6752
P20 is as good as s625.
X20 was really fast...
We can talk about vp9, dualcamera support, IA support, 120hz screen support available on Mediatek soc before Qualcomm's Apple's or Huawei's ones

Device is not only a soc, it's a screen, many sensors, these materials don't come from Mediatek...kernel include code for that!
Mediatek provide source for soc...proof : Sony for exemple was able to release major updates on mt6732, mt6752, P10, X10 or p20...
Simple question : if Sony can, why the other can't?

Look to Sony with Xperia C4, XA or XA1...they get major updates.
Now imagine that things on which Qualcomm were condamned (abuse or dominance) in China, Korean, Taïwan and Europe don't exist, and major brands use Helio X, maybe they get more major upgrades.
You can look at Mediatek Android Developpers (M.A.D) on Facebook to...most 64bits soc from mediatek run Android 8.1

Ask you why they are free and if developpers work for free?
You will be surprise of what a 880mp2 (helio P20) can do on most games on a Fullhd screen

Like many others I think CPU score is fake. Others scores are coherents.
I think AnTuTu throlls the decacore too...
This come from S820 period, AnTuTu 6 was made to let 820 top charts even if it has only 4 cores (one of AnTuTu founders is Liang Bin...and you can find a Liang Bin who works for Qualcomm...same one????)
About GPU people should not forget a few things :
- P70 is made to compete with S670, GPU scores are coherents
- benchmarks and games are 2 differents things and sometime gives differents results...benchmarks are made to give you reasons to buy flagships...are tested, texturing and RAM bandwidth to increase avantage of heavy multicores gpu. Are forget, geometry and CPU usage for IA...
Measure in-game framerate instead of reading benchmarks!
- a 2 cores powerVR 6250 (about as PowerPoint as a 4 cores Mali) is able to run most 3D games on a 2560x1600 screen!

Their GPUs usually struggles against heavy apps and games. The textures and effects usually don't match what you can expect in the same segment against Kirin SoC, Qualcomm and Exynos. With no open source code and that lack, who cares. But if they keep lower prices that the competence it'll ship well to the chinese brands.

I've built my own Android PDA. which is WAY lower than the 73,696 shown here.

I'm surprised... really. 76k in CPU score?! and it's only upper midrange...! Shit is going to be real if the flagship is announced.
(and for those curious for the CPU scores of SD845. (my device is the source, Kiya-touch T1)
They score about 62k. (I clocked my device at 2.5 GHz gold, and 1.9 GHz silver.) so I'm amazed. to the fullest.

alnherco, 24 Jan 2018S8 is about 189.000 antutu and its a year old LolTalking about the CPU score, not the overall score. The Snapdragon 835/Exynos 8895 CPU score is about 40000, way below the 73969 score for this that Mediatek chip. If that benchmark is to be believed, that CPU would likely score higher than even the upcoming Snapdragon 845, which seems unlikely.
